Varyoganneftegaz

Varyoganneftegaz was created in May 1993 on the basis of the Varyoganneftegaz production association. In August 2003, as the Russian oil companies became integrated, it was incorporated into TNK-BP.

Varyoganneftegaz is developing five fields: Severo-Varyoganskoe, Bakhilovskoe, Severo-Khokhrakovskoe, Verkhnekolik-Yogasnkoe and Suslikovskoe. It currently comprises three amalgamated production units, an oil treatment and pumping facility, and a maintenance depot.

In 2008 Varyoganneftegaz produced 3.087 million tons of oil and 1.251 billion cu m of gas. There was an active program of development drilling at the Bakhilovskoe and Verkhnekolik-Yoganskoe fields, generating additional production of 337,000 t of oil. A further increase of 316,000 t was achieved with the help of hydro fracturing operations.

Last year Varyoganneftegaz continued to work on reducing its idle well stock, with successful well interventions at 41 idle production wells and 8 injection wells. Sidetracks were drilled in a further 3 wells. In addition, 25 wells were suspended and 12 were abandoned.

On the environmental side, Varyoganneftegaz has focused on land remediation and pipeline integrity. In 2008, the company cleaned up over 13 hectares of oil—contaminated land, including heritage contamination, and renovated over 17 km of pipeline.

Varyoganneftegaz is currently focusing on improving its resource base, raising process and environmental safety standards, and developing oil & gas gathering, treatment and transportation infrastructure.

The General Director is Sergey Karavaev.
