The company committed to clean up all legacy pollution by 2012 and to consistently implement higher HSE standards across all operations.
TNK-BP leadership considers health, safety and environmental problems very important. Since Day 1, the Company leadership has worked to fulfill its commitment to HSE goals, which are stated in the HSE policy.
At present, five (5) TNK-BP policies have been developed by the Company, including the HSE Policy. The policies, which are written in general language, set forth a strategic framework and articulate the core values within which the Company operates. In the second tier, Performance Standards set out in more detail what the Policy Commitments mean in practice. These describe TNK-BP’s expectations, and are consistent with the Company’s long-term strategic framework.
Many of our challenges in HSE and infrastructure upgrades cannot be completed overnight but they present a potential opportunity to leverage the application of new BP technologies in resolving these issues.
TNK-BP spends approximately $180 million annually on mitigating operational injuries, damage to property and reducing the negative impact of our operations on the environment as well as upgrading our existing infrastructure.
