Gas transportation options from the Kovykta field

An independent study aimed at consideration and analysis of different gas transportation options from the Kovykta field, including the options proposed by TNK-BP and alternative options, in terms of social and economic risks and efficiency of investment projects has been completed.

The study was developed by experts from the leading scientific organizations in the main aspects of the studies as well as representatives of TNK-BP, BP, RUSIA Petroleum, FRECOM, and international, Russian, and regional nongovernmental organizations, including WWF Russia, Greenpeace Russia, International Socio-Ecological Union, Environmental Education Center Zapovedniki, Nonprofit Partnership Transparent World, Russian Bird Conservation Union, Baikal Environmental Wave, Buryat Regional Association for Baikal and others.

The study is a tentative overview that serves for identification and careful and well-balanced consideration of a number of key factors for developing the Kovykta gas condensate field and choosing the optimal gas export corridor with due regard to the interests of all concerned parties.
