Rostovnefteprodukt

The history of Rostovnefteprodukt goes back to the first half of the 20th century. After the Nobel Brothers completed the construction of two oil bases in Rostov-on-the-Don and Nakhichevan-on-the-Don, supplies of oil products to local industries and communities were reorganized.

Between 1922 and 1937 a universal oil marketing system was introduced. Neftetorg was created for marketing oil products within Russia. It was later renamed Neftesindikat. The company ran an office in Rostov-on-the-Don centrally located in the North-Caucasus.

In 1937, the Rostov commodity-transport department of Glavneftesbyt of the USSR People’s commissariat for the oil industry was created (it became later the department of Glavneftesnab of the RSFSR Goskomnefterprodukt, the State committee for oil products). It was originally responsible for the transportation of oil products via railroads and rivers. In the early 1960s, public gas-filling stations became integral to the transportation system. Rostovnefteprodukt has historically met in full the region’s local demand.

During the economic reforms of the 1990s, a number of Rostovnefteprodukt’s assets, pertaining to oil product supplies, were removed from the company’s structure. Since 2003, Rostovnefteprodukt has been part of TNK-BP and is a key marketing enterprise for oil products in Russia.

Rostovnefteprodukt is currently one of the major suppliers of oil products in the Rostov region. Its production and marketing operations supply industrial and subsidized agricultural enterprises with quality fuel products. It also owns oil bases and a developed network of gas-filling stations.

In 2003 42,600 tons of oil products were sold at 38 active gas-filling stations. Wholesale buyers are offered a wide range of products — benzene, diesel fuel, stove fuel, oils (motor, industrial, transmission) and lubricants. All products meet GOST standards and strict customer requirements. Long-standing clients are offered a wide range of discounts. Oil bases have their own vehicles for deliveries and purchases of oil products can be bartered.

Rostovnefteprodukt’s success is due to good production organization and solid relationships with partners. Certified labs permanently control the quality of products sold. Its operations promote the development of the Rostov region particularly in the form tax contributions to the regional budget.

Its staff of 538 employees has also greatly contributed to the enterprise’s success. The company is effectively integrating valuable experience gained from the past and today’s industry expertise.
