Saratov oil refinery, one of the oldest refineries in Russia, was established on April 27, 1934. The refinery was repeatedly upgraded in 1950s -1980s. The peak throughput of 10 million tons was delivered in the late 1980s. In 2008, the throughput amounted to 6.5 million tons of crude. Upon an upgrade scheduled for the late 2009, the refinery will be capable of processing 7 million tons of crude a year.
Construction of a tar visbreaking section was completed at Saratov refinery in 2004. The company is currently marketing over 20 types of products: high quality gasolines (A-80, A-92, A-95), low sulfur diesel fuel, naphtha, vacuum gas oil, industrial sulfur, fuel oil, construction bitumen, roofing bitumen, etc.
In 2008, the company received $35 million in investments, which were mostly spent on preparation to produce Euro-3 and Euro-4 gasolines.
The refinery employs 1,680 people and is headed by Sergey Korelyakov, General Director and Honorary Energy Sector Worker of the Russian Federation.
