Suzunskoe and Tagulskoe fields | |||
Suzunskoe and Tagulskoe fields are situated in Bolshekhetskaya Depression in northern Krasnoyarsk Region within the Arctic Circle at a distance of 1,700 km from Krasnoyarsk. TNK-BP has acquired licenses to develop these fields from Slavneft in 2004. As of today, TNK-BP has eleven license areas.
Potential availability of significant recoverable reserves has already been confirmed by exploration. Recoverable 3P oil reserves may amount to over 7.8 mmbbl in Suzunskoe field and approximately 10.5 mmbbl in Tagulskoe field according to PRMS methodology. Two development wells were drilled in 2008. An oil inflow of 3,400 bpd was observed.
Full field development requires the transportation infrastructure that is planned to be constructed in the framework of Yamal projects to be implemented by TNK-BP and other companies.
The investment in the development project is estimated at more than $6bn.
Suzunskoe is the best explored field. It contains high quality light oil. A pilot development program is implemented in the field since 2007. The pilot program will allow getting a better understanding of the reservoir structure and exploring deeper accumulations, and provide the required information to plan full field development. The second well is being drilled in the framework of the program now. It is expected that the exploration will allow increasing the reserves by another 500 mmbbl in the nearest future. Full field development may provide stable production of 26—38 mmbbl per annum (3.5—5 mmtpa). TNK-BP obtained 1,500 barrels of “blowing” oil when drilling an exploration well in Suzunskoe Field in October 2008.
Tagulskoe field is larger than Suzunskoe but its exploration maturity is still insufficient. The work is now mainly aimed at examining technically feasible methods that would allow economic development of the field. For that purpose, it is planned to implement a pilot development program that would allow removing the existing subsurface risks and optimizing the field development plan. A well is being drilled in the framework of the pilot program.
TNK-BP employs state-of-the-art horizontal directional drilling technology in Suzunskoe and Tagulskoe fields.
