Test: What Is Filled as A-92 at Retail Stations

April 05, 2004, Monday

In February, the international Consumer Appraisal Institute verified quality of A-95 gasoline sold at chain retail stations in the capital. The inspection yielded rather good quality results at almost all of the inspected stations. In March, appraisers visited not only large chain retail stations but also came to several stand-alone retail stations. A-92 gasoline was checked up. As studies suggested, fuel quality at stand-alone retail stations was significantly inferior to that at retail stations of large chains. Among champions in terms of the octane value is KLO retail stations (TNK''s jobber), with quality reserve for 0.9 unit. TNK''s jobbers are also enviably stable in terms of benzene content that ranges from 2.02 tî 2.32% at all of them. Measures for A-92 and A-95 gasoline are very similar at retail stations held by TNK''s jobbers, except for the octane value, which testifies, above all, to high-tech gasoline production and, secondly, to proper operations of petroleum product quality control services.
