British Petroleum to Invest US$ 2 Mio in Expanding TNK-BP''s Technological Center in the Tyumen Region
British Petroleum is going to invest US$ 2 million into expansion of TNK-BP''s technological center created on the basis of the Tyumen Scientific Petroleum Center (TNNS), a news service of the regional administration informed based on the results of negotiations of Governor Sergey Sobianin and Mr. Tony Maggs, Vice President of the company. TNNTs is an R&D subsidiary of TNK-BP Management OJSC. "Tyumen is the vital region for BP, the largest oil and gas provide in the world, and we came to the Tyumen Region for a long time," Mr. Maggs pointed out. In his words, Western Siberia affords "unbelievably many options for applying international experience of the company and achievements of Tyumen-based professionals." In the words of Mr. S. Sobianin, today it is "very important to build up the joint strategy for field development." Experience is available: TNK-BP has been developing the Uvat group of deposits for several years. TNK-BP intends to expand operations in the gas industry, Mr. Tony Maggs informed reporters. Earlier, TNK used to deal with associated gas only and did not consider it as the principal product of its operations. After TNK''s merger with BP, a special entity was set up. Its professionals are involved in the project that envisages cooperation with Gazprom in the domestic market. On April 1, BP''s delegation is on a visit in Nizhnevartovsk.
