Tyumen Region Governor and BP''s and TNK-BP''s Representatives Discuss Strategic Cooperation Issues
Information on results of the meeting of the Tyumen Region Governor Sergey Sobianin with BP''s and TNK-BP''s delegation. The parties discussed strategic cooperation issues, including registration of the company''s profit generation center in the region. Such announcement was distributed by the Governor''s News Service. There are also reports on TNK-BP''s intentions to build up the personnel, field, and technical support development strategy exactly in Tyumen. In the near future, TNK-BP is going to invest US$ 2 million in Tyumen, which will help start active development of the group of Uvat deposits, and the region will receive significant extra income for the regional budget. "We have where to transport and to whom to sell, and the main task is to extract what is sold and transported," Mr. Sobianin noted when speaking to his guests. TNK-BP''s representatives also informed the Governor of its intentions to expand operations in the gas industry. Once TNK used to deal with associated gas only and did not regard it as the main product of operations. After TNK''s merger with BP''s, a special structure to handle "blue" fuel was established; its professionals are working on the project envisaging cooperation with Gazprom in the domestic market. Expansion of TNK-BP''s technological center based on TNNTs (a subsidiary of TNK-BP Management in charge of R&D, design, and studies) was also under consideration. Summing up the outcome of the meeting, the Governor noted that TNK-BP''s establishment became a landmark event both for the Russian economy and the region''s life. "I hope," Mr. Sergey Sobianin said, "that Tyumen will become a second home for the company where many new projects will appear and will work."
