Gremikhino Field

April 13, 2004, Tuesday

The article on operations of oilmen from Udmurtneft OJSC in the Gremikhino field. The newspaper informs that the peculiarity of the Gremikhino field is high crude viscosity. The field is distinguished through having become a test ground for a novelty development of Udmurtneft, steam and thermal bed stimulation, in the 1980s. The technology that enabled to boost production rate while cutting down development costs is not yielding the former economic effect due to increased gas, power, and potable water prices. The cost of Gremikhino oil now is perhaps the most expensive among Udmurtian fields. Nonetheless, NGDP Udmurtneft Yug outperformed crude output targets by 1,400 tons in UDNG-3 from the start of the year as of April 1, 2004. In addition, the newspaper quotes Mr. T.A. Utiaganov, Senior Master in Crude Output, UDNG-3, Udmurtneft Yug, as saying, while commenting on the restructuring results, that "the very idea of separating services and production is positive. But its operation is not smooth enough due to imperfect agreements and regulations. Too much time is spent to look for compromises; sometimes the customer has to run after the contractor and to plea to do something, even though normal service means quite the opposite – when the contractor is eager to get orders."
