Nature is Both a Temple and Our Stockroom, and an Oil Producer is a Worker in It
The Environmental Service of Samotlofneftegaz OJSC has developed a special five-year program comprising numerous environment protection and recovery efforts to be taken in the Samotlor field. This long-term program gears toward drastic changes in the environmental situation in the field. It will enable to reduce the area of polluted land by 70%, Mr. Sergey Kondratuik, Deputy Head of the Department for Occupational Safety and Labor Protection of SNG OJSC. The most valuable feature of the program is that it is absolutely devoid of any signs of declarative plans. All of its items are accompanied by the approved of business plan. SNG OJSC has planned to spend over $20 million on pipeline reconstruction alone, and this sum of money is to increase in 2005.
