TNK to Restore St. Petersburg''s Monuments
Regional newspapers have published information on TNK-BP''s intention to invest into restoration of St. Petersburg architectural monuments. According to information provided by the Tyumen Regional Administration News Service, the St. Petersburg Development Fund will be established, in which TNK-BP will allocate funds for restoration and reconstruction of historical monuments of the northern capital. According to the Tyumen Regional Governor Sergey Sobianin, "these sums of money will be really large and will actually help the city to reconstruct those buildings they need repairs." Head of the region also noted that "it would be good for other petroleum majors to follow TNK-BP''s example," and emphasized that the assistance to St. Petersburg is quite gratuitous. The Regional Administration noted that funds allocated by TNK-BP for St. Petersburg''s reconstruction is the company''s available funds, and they will be invested so that not to make hard to regions where the company pursues its business.
