Novy Region television channel informs that Udmurtneft OJSC proved its title of Udmurtia''s best company as concerns environmental safety. ISO 14001, international environmental certificate, was retained by Udmurtneft and TNK-BP. A year ago, Udmurtneft was the first company in the republic and the only of TNK-BP''s oil extracting companies to obtain such certificate and to stand in line with global leaders in terms of environment. No environmental accidents have happened in the company''s fields over this time. A mobile environmental laboratory operates on oil extraction sites; two-seat plane is involved in environmental raids; a program featuring a set of maps showing 440 points of control over water, air, and soil in all fields has been developed and implemented. Udmurtneft reduced air emissions by 7%. More than 100 km of pipework have been replaced in the fields. This year, it was time to prove the certificate, the television channel informs. Auditors from PricewaterhouseCoopers have been working at oil extraction and refining facilities for a week. Specialists confirmed compliance to ISO 14001. The television channel cites Mr. Sh. Bennet, the company''s audit partner, who pointed out that "he believes that obtaining of the certificate by Udmurtneft means for Udmurtia, first of all, that Udmurtneft making part of TNK-BP holding retained its leading positions in environmental safety. They demonstrate to all other enterprises that it is necessary to combine oil production/extraction with careful attitude to environment," Mr. Bennet pointed out.
