The five-millionth ton of oil from the start of operation was extracted in the Kalchino field located in the south of the Tyumen Region on July 8. The field is being developed by Tyumenneftegaz, TNK-BP''s subsidiary. It took the enterprise six and a half years to extract the first million of tons. At present, annual output exceeds 1 million tons. Almost half million tons of hydrocarbons have been extracted in the Kalchino and North Demiansk fields since the start of the year. The plan is to extract some 600,000 tons of oil by the end of 2004. The output growth was due to large-scale operations of hydro fracturing of formation as well as drilling. At present, Tyumenneftegaz holds 10 license plots and 27 prospective ones. In addition, the subsidiary of TNK-BP can boast of its own solid waste disposal ground launched last year. Far from every oil-extracting enterprise can afford such "expensive pleasure".
