Report on a visit by Canadian auditors from PricewaterhouseCoopers of fields of Udmurtneft OJSC (makes part of TNK-BP holding). The main objective of the audit was to confirm validity of ISO 14001, an international environmental standard, awarded to Udmurtneft OJSC last year. At present, Udmurtneft OJSC is the only enterprise in Udmurtia and the first enterprise in TNK-BP with such certificate, the television channel points out. Canadian auditors sampled 41 clusters in the Elniki field, after then had visited some more fields, the television channel informs. The auditors have not detected any violations either in the Elniki field or elsewhere. The environmental management system implemented by Udmurtneft last year has really made crude oil production an environmentally-friendly business, the television company reports. The environmental management system means constant oversight of everything that involves crude oil extraction. No major accident has occurred in Udmurtneft''s fields for more than a year. To counteract the principal environmental problem came across when oil is extracted, pipe breakage, oilmen employ new technologies. A mobile environmental lab operates in oil extraction blocks. Professionals take air, water, and soil samples every day. Application of new technologies during associated gas burning enabled to reduce air emissions. The television channel also cites Mr. E. Gillam, an audit partner from PricewaterhouseCoopers, who said, summing up audit results, that he saw "many examples of environmental enhancement at TNK-BP; many lines of business are now pursued with greater environmental care," the television company notes.
