TNK-BP''s Moscow Office confirmed information that an agreement for technological crude oil supplies was prepared. "If all of the documents are signed at negotiations on July 8, it will be possible to ensure supplies of technological crude oil from TNK within a very short period of time, approximately in a month," informed the PR Department of TNK-BP''s Russian Representative Office. When asked when transportation of large crude oil volumes may start through the system, a spokesperson of TNK was no so specific: "Transneft calculates schedules for crude oil supplies through the Russian pipeline system on the basis of earlier declared volumes. That''s why it is difficult for me to predict when exactly crude oil will start to arrive to Ukraine. But we have been speaking of our willingness to transport crude oil through the Odessa/Brody pipeline for almost a year, so I think we have elaborated everything necessary to carry that out as soon as practicable." "Consideration of Russia''s participation in the Odessa/Brody project in reverse mode seems possible when the role of the Russian party in operation of this transport system is determined," Victor Khristenko pointed out. Russian experts polled by the edition said that by that statement Mr. Khristenko gave Ukrainian officials to understand that Russian crude oil will not be transported through the Odessa/Brody pipeline unless clear-cut guarantees have been provided to the Russian Federation. Moscow is gradually leading Kiev to the need for the Odessa/Brody oil pipeline to go private.
